Research

Mammalian Biotech's research programs span five interconnected areas. Research is conducted across distributed laboratory environments and partner institutions. Publications are released selectively and are available in the Journal.

Neural Systems

Adaptive and distributed neural architectures. Signal processing in biological and synthetic systems. Integration of computational processes with biological neural networks at the cellular and systems levels.

Current focus: distributed signal encoding across heterogeneous neural populations; adaptive filtering under continuous environmental input.

Adaptive Cognition

Human cognitive adaptation to computational augmentation. Behavioral plasticity under extended exposure to novel cognitive tools. Long-term trajectory of human–system integration. Measurement of cognitive boundary drift in augmented populations.

Current focus: characterization of adaptation rates across demographic cohorts; identification of persistent adaptation signatures in behavioral data.

Biological Interfaces

Physical and informational interfaces between biological systems and computational substrates. Sensor architectures for biological signal capture. Feedback systems for closed-loop biological control. Material science of interface longevity under continuous biological contact.

Current focus: long-term signal fidelity under biological interface conditions; biocompatible substrate evaluation.

Human Augmentation

Augmentation systems for perceptual, cognitive, and physical capability expansion. Evaluation of augmentation effects on behavior, identity, and social dynamics. Protocol development for augmentation deployment in occupational and research contexts.

Current focus: perceptual augmentation under constrained sensory environments; identity coherence assessment in long-duration augmentation studies.

Environmental Integration

Integration of technological systems into biological and environmental contexts. Distributed biological manufacturing. Environmental monitoring and adaptive response systems. Ecological impact characterization of large-scale technological deployment.

Current focus: distributed protein cultivation architecture; environmental control system design for decentralized biological manufacturing.
